This summer marks the 20th year we've been in Tucson. Seems hard to believe it was 20 years ago when we pulled up roots in Pomona CA and relocated to Arizona. To celebrate, we are having 2 really big shows. First one will be held Sunday, Aug 3rd at Vaudeville Cabaret on E. Congress with a special guest appearance, all the way from Italy, our old friends RAW POWER!! Also on the bill, locals FEAST UPON CACTUS THORNS, SWING DING AMIGOS and LIMBLESS TORSO. $10 at the door. .Music starts at 9pm. This show is for ages 21 and over, but on Monday, Aug 4th there is an ALL AGES show at Dry River (University & Main) with RAW POWER, PROSTHETICS, TICS, HOT TRASH and more. 6 pm $5 donation at the door.

As the Catalina mountains continue to burn into oblivion making Tucson seem like a modern day Pompeii next to Mt Vesuvius, you have a couple more days to get yourself some new music at Toxic Ranch to create your own soundtrack to the inferno, before we close for INDEPENDENCE WEEK. It is with a very heavy heart but as an obligation to the many fans and friends of RAW POWER throughout the world that I have been asked to spread the news of the death of Giussepe Codeluppi, founder of the Italian punk band, RAW POWER. He suffered a heart attack while playing soccer with his friends in Parma, Italy. I believe he was 45 years old.

RAW POWER were one of the first non-English European bands to make their mark by touring the USA incessantly during the 80's and 90's and as recently as 2001. They were also one of the first "crossover" bands (along with D.R.I., C.O.C.) combining the best elements of punk and metal together for the first time. They broke down doors and destroyed borders for many others to follow in their footsteps. Songs such as "Fuck Authority", "State Oppression" and "Burning the Factory" defined an attitude that many could identify with in spite of their citizenship.

Giuseppe Codeluppi was not just the bands' guitarist since 1981 but he was the very heart and soul of RAW POWER and it is doubtful the band will be able to carry on without him. He will be missed.
